USA University application Essays

Students applying to USA universiites will be expected to submit up to three essays with there application.  

Each university will set its own questions, as well as desired length for your response. However, most universities will ask for similar types of essays aroung You, why us and creative

• "Please complete a one-page personal statement and submit it with your application." (James Madison University)
• "How would you describe yourself as a human being? What quality do you like best in yourself and what do you like least? What quality would you most like to see flourish and which would you like to see wither?" (Bates College)

2. An essay about your academic aspirations and WHY you want to go to the selected university, the answer should be based on the reason you selected the university and your knowledge of your chosen academic subject. examples of the WHY question

• "Why is UVM a good college choice for you?" (University of Vermont)

• "Please tell us about your career goals and any plans you may have for graduate study." (Westfield State College)

3.  An essay on a creative question the answer should illustrate your creativity and breath of knowledge, the CREATIVE questions examples;

• "Do you believe there's a generation gap? Describe the differences between your generation and others." (Denison University)
• "Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence." (Common Application)

The typical length is 500-750 words per essay.  

The essay needs to be CONCISE - To the point,  HONEST - make sure you have achieved everything you state in the essay and you can provide back up evidence

INDIVIDUAL - why you are different   COHERENT - are you making sense  ACCURATE - is everything in order   VIVID - is it fresh and spirited
