STUDY TO WORK AUSTRALIA

If you study in Australia a skill on the occupational shortage list for a minimum of 2 years you will be able to stay and work for 18months ( looking like it will change to 2 years from February 2013), and during this time you can apply for permanent residency.  Degrees Ahead provides FREE advice and application management to UK students, advising students on the appropriate courses for the work study option.  The process is very straight forward:

• Consult with Degrees Ahead to establish the most suitable course

• Degrees Ahead provide free application management application

• Once you have accepted a place at a recognised university or college and paid the first semesters fees you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and can apply for a student visa online.

• Eligible dependant family members can accompany you to Australia

• When you have commenced your course of study in Australia, you can work up to 20 hours per week while your course is in session and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks.

• Your family members can work up to 20 hours per week provided you have commenced your course of study in Australia. If you are doing a postgraduate course, such as a Master’s degree, your family members can work unlimited hours once you commence this course.

• On completing 2 years of study towards occupation on SOL can get a Skilled – Graduate (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 485)

                        To qualify for the this skilled graduate (temporary visa) applicants must be

                        under 50 years of age, completed an eligible qualification(s) in the

                        last 6 months as a result of at least two years study in Australia  has the skills,

                        attributes and qualifications that meet the Australian standard                      

                        for an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL).

• In 2013 students studying any bachelors, masters, research for a period of two years will be entitled to a 2 yr work permit regardless of the subject.  Students partners are entitled to the same working rights on the Subclass 485 and the new to be implemented visa.

• Children of students on student visas have to pay school fees.
