Which countries can you go to University in?

The choice of countries is really budget dependent.... For instance University in Australia the fees are between £9000 and £18000 a year and there are few funding opportunities, most students have to be self funding and with living costs in Australia at approx £8000 a year you need to ensure you have the budget.  Students at university in Australia can work 20 hours a week  and fulltime during the holidays, with the minimum wage being AU$16 per hour students can just about support themselves.

University in Denmark offers a much cheaper option for Uk students as the Danish government pays the tuition fees of UK students! However, students still have to cover the cost of living in Denmark which can be £900 a month.  Not as expensive as we thought as students have a different kind of life style in Denmark.  What we really like about Denmark is the Problem based learning, different from the UK universities, this approach gives students a problem and they work in groups to come up with a soluition.  This applied learning has excellent employment outcomes and also so incorporates work based learning so students have relevant work experience on graduating.

A huge range of courses taught in English are offered at Universities in the Netherlands.  The Dutch universities offer both academic and applied degrees, the tradtional universities are ranked in the worlds top and the applied universiites have outstanding employment rates.  In fact if a degree programme at an applied university doesnt have outstanding employment rates the university cannot contiue to run it. Fees for UK students are approx £1500 per year and grants are given by the Dutch government to students that work for over 30 hours a month.  We love the student towns of Groningen and Utrecht that just buzz with young people and have loads going on.  Have to be carefull of all those bikes nearly got taken out on more than one occassion!!

Canada is the latest destination that we have started to explore for university entry, once again we found the traditional universities in Canada. There are a good range of masters and PHDs available and colleges in canada offer very good vocational programmes for graduates.

University in Aisa offers a range of universities public and state run, universities across Asia are internationally recognised and all are accreditied by their government.  There are a number of international universities with campuses throughout Asia.  The universities are generally based on the traditional model and some incorporate work based learning.

There are only 8 publically funded Universities in New Zealand, along side these are the polytechnics.  Universities in New Zealand offer UK students the opportunity to undertake PHDS at domestic fee rate, partners to work fulltime and children receive education for free.
