A research-based degree focused on topics in Digital Media Design, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture or Landscape Architecture. Topics also can include areas which link design with architecture, building science or certain areas of the arts and humanities, or with general design topics. The MDes may take the form of a written dissertation, a design study, a design composition or a combination thereof. A research proposal must be approved and a portfolio of design work submitted and reviewed before enrolling. Duration: A minimum of 12 months full-time or 2 years part-time. Entry requirement: A good 4-year BDes or BDes (Hons) in Industrial Design, Interior Architecture or Landscape Architecture (or the equivalent), a good Bachelor’s degree in another design-based discipline (e.g. Architecture), or relevant professional and/or research experience. Research Requirements For all research degrees your application to enrol must be accompanied by a proposal comprising a brief description of the study aims, subject matter, key references and theoretical framework, methods and a timeframe.
