About the MTA

The MTA in Directing is an applied Masters degree taught jointly by the Theatre Programme and Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School, which is the country's foremost training school for theatre professionals. Through a two-year full-time programme combining practical and theoretical studies, students will develop the necessary skills to direct and initiate projects in the professional theatre and related areas.

Entry requirements

Entry to the MTA is competitive: only six places are available in any one year. To be considered you will need to have either a degree in Theatre or Performing Arts, or extensive practical or professional theatre or related experience.
