A Master of Nursing (MNurs) degree by thesis offers you an exciting opportunity to spend time researching a topic that interests you. To be accepted, you usually need to have a Bachelors degree, good grades in a 30 point research course and a proposal that can be supervised by us. Your thesis is expected to make a substantive scholarly contribution to your discipline. The application process involves submitting your academic transcripts and research proposal to our Research and Ethics Committee. The final decision will be made by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Once you're accepted into the Masters programme, you'll get research guidance from two supervisors while you plan and implement your study - and of course the rest of the Graduate School team will be there to help whenever you need it. Completion usually takes a year through full-time study and up to two years through part-time study. You can also apply for a direct transfer to the PhD programme before you complete your Master of Nursing. This is accessed case by case using a strict protocol. If you are granted transfer, the time you've already completed on your Master of Nursing will be transferred and count towards you total period of candidature in the PhD.
