The Postgraduate Diploma of Nursing is an excellent stepping stone to a Masters in Nursing. It enables you to study a range of topics, including advanced assessment and diagnosis in your area of practice, and explore research methods or evidence-based paractice to support your area of expertise. You'll need to complete four courses (120 points), of which one must be a research methods course (two can be from your certificate qualification). It ususally takes 12 months to complete the programme full time, or up to four years part time. If you complete the programme successfully, you'll be able to apply for entry to the MA (Applied) or MN (Clinical) (if the courses are appropriate for the MN (Clinical) pathway), or you could apply for entry to the MNurs. Your Diploma courses will count towards these programmes. However, you'll be required to relinquish your Diploma when you are awarded a higher qualification.
