About the MA in Education The Master of Arts in Education is an advanced postgraduate qualification. The MA comprises a thesis, a substantial piece of written work, completed by the candidate and supervised by a member of staff with expertise in that area. Supervision is usually on the basis of one-to-one tutorials with the student. A bound copy of the thesis is placed in the University Library for others to read. Entry Requirements A BA(Honours) degree in Education (or closely related subject) with First or Second Class Honours. Candidates who enrol for the MA are strongly advised to complete EDUC 416/EDUC 532: Research Methods in Education, before embarking on the thesis. Candidates may enrol for the MA thesis at any time of the year. Prospective candidates should submit a brief proposal for a thesis topic. Programme Requirements A thesis (EDUC 591). Assessment The MA thesis is independently assessed by an internal examiner within Victoria University, who is usually not the supervisor of the thesis, and by an external examiner appointed for the task who is usually an academic staff member of another university.
