The Master of Professional Business Studies is a 120 point one year equivalent full time coursework only masters programme. Students build on a relevant three year undergraduate degree and professional experience or four years of degree and postgraduate or honours study.

This Postgraduate programme aims to offer students the opportunity to advance their knowledge and skills in their chosen field or provide an avenue to pursue a specialised business profession. The structure of the programme enhances professional knowledge and technical, interpersonal, strategic and intellectual capabilities necessary for success at the forefront of a range of business professions.

GRADUATION OUTCOMES

• Advanced knowledge and skills in a specialist field of business and the ability to apply them.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

• A four year Bachelor degree in a relevant field or discipline with a B pass average or higher in the level 7 (Stage 3) papers or their equivalent; or
• A Bachelors degree with Honours in a relevant discipline; or
• A Bachelors degree with one of the following:
  • a professional qualification (equivalent to one year of advanced study)
  • at least three years of professional experience deemed relevant to this programme by the postgraduate committee
  • A Graduate Diploma in a relevant discipline with a B pass average or better

  AND have completed any pre-requisite papers specified.

• Applicants for whom English is a second language must have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6.0 in each band.

STRUCTURE

Every student must complete at least 60 points in one discipline to graduate with the MPBS. If a student wishes to undertake an endorsed major e.g. MPBS (Marketing) they must complete at least 90 points in that discipline. The remaining points to make up the 120 may be taken from any discipline, subject to satisfying prerequisite requirements.

Further Study
Completion of the MPBS qualifies for entry to the second year of the Master of Business, or to the Master of Philosophy, with potential to proceed further to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme.
