The Master of Business is a 240-point, two-year full-time equivalent research Masters degree in business, which develops critical and reflective graduates with applied research capability. This is grounded in rigorous understanding of a specialist field relevant to their professional and research interests. These three elements: knowledge, research and critical reflective capabilities are essential complex, changing environment of business.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
- Applicants for the Master of Business are expected to have a Bachelors degree to a merit (B average) standard from a New Zealand University in the field in which they propose to undertake their Master of Business.
- Applicants who have an undergraduate degree in another field are usually expected to complete the Graduate Diploma in Business with a B average or better in their chosen subject before the Master of Business.
- Applicants with relevant overseas qualifications will be assessed individually and may be required to undertake a preliminary course of study before entry to this programme.
- Applicants for whom English is a second or additional language must have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6.0 in each band.
- In addition to the above, acceptance of applications for the Master of Business is dependant on there being appropriate staff available to supervise research in the student’s field of study
- Postgraduate Pathways: Graduates of the Bachelor of Business (Honours) with first or second class honours may apply for admission to the Master of Business. They will normally complete the programme in one year of full time study by completing the thesis or dissertation and coursework. Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Business with a B-average or better may qualify for admission to the Master of Business. They will normally complete the programme in one year of full time study – including 30 points of coursework, plus Research Methodology, Qualitative Analysis or Quantitative Analysis, and a Dissertation.
STRUCTURE
To graduate with a Master of Business, students must successfully complete 240 points. This is made up of three elements:
1: Coursework Discipline Papers
Students who wish to undertake a Thesis must complete at least 60 points in a single discipline, plus up to 30 points in other papers from the same or another discipline – subject to satisfying prerequisite requirements.
Students who wish to undertake a Dissertation must at least 60 points in a single discipline, plus 90 or more points in other papers from the same or another discipline – subject to satisfying prerequisite requirements.
