New initiative - Health Professional Education study option
From second semester 2008 a new part-time study option, Health Professional Education, will be available to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Health Science.

Students entering the program in 2008 will undertake EDN630 Higher Education: Curriculum Design, Assessment and Evaluation and an elective in second semester 2008, and EDN626 Learning and Teaching in Higher Education plus a new unit Clinical Education in Health in first semester 2009.

University approval is being sought to have study areas available in HL38 from 2009 and, if approval is given, Health Professional Education will become a study area in the program.

Overview
The course provides a broad range of options for study at the Graduate Certificate level. Students can select four (4) units from across a range of Faculty of Health units. It is designed for students who do not want to specialise but prefer to select a combination of units to meet their needs. Selection of units is subject to approval by the course coordinator.

Increasing numbers of electives are being offered through distance delivery and flexible delivery, which may include study modes such as block attendance, external study and online learning.

Entry Requirements
Students must hold an appropriate bachelor degree or other qualifications/work experience acceptable to the Executive Dean.

Course Structure
Students are required to complete any four units (totalling 48 credit points) from List A. No more than two (24 credit points) senior undergraduate units can be included in the total.

Course Articulation
This course articulates fully into the Graduate Diploma in Health Science and the Master of Health Science

Special Note
Completion of units in Health, Safety and Environment or Environmental Health does not qualify graduands to practice in these areas.

International Student Entry
International students may enrol only in full-time studies and may study only onshore.
