COURSE DESCRIPTION
For graduates with little or no experience in outdoor or environmental education, this course offers an intensive qualification with an opportunity to choose units according to individual needs and interests. Graduates with demonstrated expertise in outdoor or environmental education may tailor the course to extend their expertise into new areas, or add depth of knowledge in a specialist area by choosing from a wide range of units. The course includes both the theoretical depth and integrated practical work for which the Outdoor Education program is internationally renowned.

ADDITIONAL COSTS ($AUD)
There may be additional costs in regard to outdoor fieldwork equipment including a sleeping bag and wet weather gear: up to A$1,500.
 
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or

TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or

TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or

TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or

Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at PG (postgraduate) level available from the La Trobe University Language Centre; or

Approved equivalent.
 
ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
An Australian Bachelor's degree or approved international equivalent. All applicants, including those who do not have experience in outdoor activities (e.g. lightweight camping), must be able to undertake overnight bushwalks and canoe trips in remote areas.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
The following types of industry experience are available in this course.
 
Workplace experience for academic credit
 
If the industry experience program is not a registered part of their course a student will need to hold work rights on their visa, this permits the student to work up to 20 hours per week when their course is in session and unlimited hours outside these times. However, if a student has completed their course and their student visa is expiring they will need to apply for another visa with work rights rather than renewing their student visa based on undertaking industry experience.
