The Master of Information Systems provides enhanced knowledge and skills development in information systems as a key tool for improving organisational performance. The program develops the capacity of the individual to manage the functional responsibility for choosing, implementing and maintaining information systems within an organisation and across organisations. The Master of Information Systems (Advanced) provides students with the opportunity to expand their expertise by studying an additional 40CP of advanced courses. Students from the Master of Information Systems program will be considered for entry into the Master of Information Systems with Honours program upon application to the Program Director. For applications to be successful, students must have successfully completed at least four of the core courses within the Master of Information Systems program, including 7001GBS [Research Design and Methods], and have attained a minimum GPA of 5.5 (using a 7.0 scale) across the best four core courses undertaken including 7001GBS [Research Design and Methods]. Students who have successfully completed 40CP, comprising a minimum of 20CP of core courses, may be eligible for the Graduate Certificate in Information Systems. Attendance The Graduate Certificate in Information Systems is offered full-time and part-time on campus at the Nathan campus. You may choose to study courses at other campuses if or where the program structure allows. As a full-time student, you will generally attend 9-12 hours of scheduled classes per week throughout the semester. International students must maintain a full-time study load. Career opportunities Graduates gain industry recognised skills as well as analytical and research skills in information systems. This leads to positions that relate to the business application of information technology in any organisation. These positions include, but are not limited to, systems analyst/ developer, web/eCommerce developer, database designer and administrator and information resource manager. It also leads to higher-level positions such as project leader and manager.
