As a full-time student, you will generally attend 10-15 hours of scheduled classes per week throughout the semester. Classes may be scheduled during the day and evening throughout the week. It should be noted however, that if a student is cast in a major operatic production, a commitment to periods of extended contact will be required. There is usually one such project per semester, each project lasting approximately 5-6 weeks. During such times, up to 8hours per week could be added to the student's contact load. It should also be noted that for the major project in semester two, students may be required for intensive preparatory rehearsals in the vacation week immediately preceding the official commencement of lectures. Students may take a reduced study load. You will be classed as a part-time student if you enrol in less than 30 credit points per semester. This may affect entitlement to Centrelink benefits12. International students must maintain a full-time study load. If you wish to study part-time throughout the program, a program structure showing a sequence of courses is provided so you can undertake 6-9 hours of scheduled classes per week. However, attendance at daytime classes may be required.
