COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is designed to produce skills and leadership capacities relevant to a range of middle and senior management positions in government departments, agencies and the private sector. Graduates will work with communities, especially those in rural and regional areas, in community development agencies, local governments, and nongovernment organisations who work with rural and regional development issues, community development, land use planning and environmental and social policy at local, regional, national and international level. The course is provided in three streams to suit specialist knowledge and applications in community development, in environmental and social policy, and in urban and rural planning.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or

TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or

TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or

TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or

Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at PG (postgraduate) level available from the La Trobe University Language Centre; or

Approved equivalent.
 
ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
An Australian Bachelor’s degree, or approved international equivalent, or approved relevant work experience.

Employment opportunities exist with governments including local governments, NGOs, research organisations, advocacy bodies and in the private sector in roles such as community development and management, advocacy, research, public policy development, social and community planning and as part of multidiscipline teams in social and economic development projects in developed and developing countries.
