COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is intended for Archaeology Honours graduates or those who have completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Archaeology and who wish to continue with higher-level studies in archaeology. The course is sufficiently flexible in design to meet the requirements of students seeking either to expand their general archaeological knowledge, or to pursue a career in archaeology in public sector heritage service departments or in private consulting.

While the course is general rather than vocationally oriented, it will be of use to students wishing to pursue careers in archaeology in either the public sector heritage service departments or in private consulting.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or

TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or

TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or

TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or

Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at PG (postgraduate) level available from the La Trobe University Language Centre; or

Approved equivalent.
 
ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
An Honours degree in Archaeology or a compatible discipline, or a postgraduate diploma in archaeology with at least a B average, or approved international equivalent.
 
SEMESTER STARTS
Semester 1 and 2 (March and July)
 
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
This course will allow graduates to prepare for a career in Archaeological Heritage Management in Australia and internationally. It also provides an opportunity for graduates who have majored in Archaeology to gain skills in Australian Archaeology (both historic and prehistoric), as well as in other highly specialised fields such as the archaeology of Ancient China, Ancient Mesoamerica, and the Palaeolithic of Africa and Asia. As the course is highly flexible in terms of subject choice and teaching, prospective students are able to develop an individual program around a common core of subjects. Job opportunities in Archaeological Heritage Management are excellent and remuneration packages are highly attractive.
