| COURSE DESCRIPTION |
The sustainable management of our natural resources, and the related management of our agricultural systems, are some of the most important and contentious issues of our time. They require broadly trained graduates, prepared in both science and business disciplines.
This professional degree focuses on sustainable land and animal management and practice, and on the sciences relevant to the understanding of primary production, resource management and agribusiness. Key features and studies within the course include: - Industry placements and case study teaching - International study experiences (where practicable) - Impact of agriculture on the environment - Soil productivity - Plant and animal production and management - Agribusiness - Marketing - Statistics and experimental design - Viticulture.
A stream in Agribusiness is taught with Monash University (CRICOS provider number 00008C) providing the award of Professional Diploma in Agribusiness, and comprising the units: - Introduction to Agribusiness - Agribusiness Marketing - International Agribusiness - Commodity Trading Management.
The Faculty offers a range of competitive industry experience options through our Industry Cadetship and Integrated Business Learning programs and these vary by course and campus of enrolment. |

| ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS |
Successful completion of English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at undergraduate (EFS5 (60%) UG) level conducted by La Trobe University Language Centre; or
IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test: a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English; or
TOEFL Computer-based Test: a minimum score of 213 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test: a minimum score of 80 with no individual score less than 20; or
Satisfactory completion of an English language subject at Year 12 or equivalent level. This must have been completed in the last two years and at an academic level acceptable to the University; or
Approved equivalent. |

| Industry project (university-based, for academic credit) |
| |
| If the industry experience program is not a registered part of their course a student will need to hold work rights on their visa, this permits the student to work up to 20 hours per week when their course is in session and unlimited hours outside these times. However, if a student has completed their course and their student visa is expiring they will need to apply for another visa with work rights rather than renewing their student visa based on undertaking industry experience. |

| Students at the Albury-Wodonga and Bendigo campuses must transfer to the Bundoora campus after successful completion of their first year. |

| CAREER OPPORTUNITIES |
| Graduates have wide-ranging career opportunities that extend well beyond traditional agriculture. Graduates can find jobs in technological investigation and consultancy in agriculture; conservation, environmental protection and resource management; applied research; agribusiness, agronomy and the development and application of biotechnology in agriculture and related industries. Further studies in agriculture, or related areas such as biotechnology or veterinary science, are also possible. |
