Gain the technical skills and knowledge required to turn your passion for the outdoors into a comprehensive leadership qualification. The Diploma in Outdoor Recreation Leadership is recognised within industry as producing highly effective outdoor leaders who are equipped with practical skills, knowledge and experience. The programme combines academic principles and field-work, based on a holistic outdoor education philosophy. Students undertake work placements in which theory and practice is reinforced in the working environment, and where critical industry relationships are formed. A significant amount of time is spent off-campus in locations throughout the North Island of New Zealand. Graduates may be able to continue their studies by cross crediting to the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation. Language Rich Subjects: English, History, Geography, Classical Studies, History of Art or Media Studies, Economics, Te Reo, Physical Education, Drama, Social Studies. ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Applicants for whom English or Māori is not their first language are required to provide proof of an acceptable pass/grade gained in an accepted English language test.
