This programme equips students with the skills and knowledge to begin a career in one of the following areas: Coaching, Fitness Instruction, Outdoor Recreation or Dance. It also provides a staircase to further AUTSport and Recreation studies. Coaching covers the principles and practices of planning, delivering, officiating, refereeing and evaluating sports programmes. Fitness Instruction gives students the skills and knowledge to assess clients’ fitness and prescribe exercise programmes. Outdoor Recreation focuses on gaining the introductory skills and knowledge needed in outdoor pursuits, in particular looking at safety issues. Dance introduces students to the industry by giving an understanding of the history of Dance and the various fields of Dance practice.
