This degree provides an opportunity to pursue an in-depth practical and theoretical understanding of dance and dance education. Areas of study include ballet, jazz and modern dance techniques, choreographic theory and practice, dance history, dance education, cultural dance and drama. Students also learn anatomy, human structure and function, nutrition, psychology and dance research. In their co-operative studies paper in year three, students have the opportunity to gain experience in a dance field or organisation of their choice. Co-operative learning is more than work experience; it’s a strategy for students to apply knowledge to practice and advance dance skills through reflection and critical analysis.
