The hospitality sector is one of the fastest growing industries in New Zealand and overseas. Consequently, the Bachelor of International Hospitality Management has been designed to respond to this growth. As the only specialised hospitality management degree in the New Zealand university sector, it has the benefit of global recognition. The programme surveys the scope of hospitality before examining the concepts and processes critical to hospitality operations. This provides the foundation necessary for in-depth study of management principles and practices applied in a hospitality context. This focus is what gives graduates the competitive advantage into related career pathways. Late applications will be accepted if the programme is not full. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Note: Entrance to university does not guarantee admission to a specific programme of study. SPECIAL ADMISSION Applicants over 20 years of age who do not hold a university entrance qualification (such as NCEA or CIE above) may qualify for university entrance via Special Admission. ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Applicants for whom English or Māori is not their first language are required to provide proof of an acceptable pass/grade gained in an accepted English language test. This degree refl ects the international focus of the hospitality industry. Core papers contain the body of knowledge, skills and techniques necessary for the management of the hospitality business as an entity. Students can study a generic hospitality management degree or select a major or double major which allows the option of selecting a career pathway. Majors available are Accommodation, Food and Beverage, Event Management, Tourism, Marketing and Human Resources. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates are qualified for career opportunities across the hospitality industry. Skills in managing human resources, financial operations and business systems are tailored to the needs of the hospitality sector, including hotel corporate offices, restaurants, tourist resorts, hospitals, airlines, motels, hospitality recruitment and catering operations.
