Planning involves the study of society and the environment in order to make informed decisions about human settlement patterns, the layout and design of cities and towns and the sustainable management of natural resources. The course also emphasises an understanding of environmental systems and natural resource management within the context of a changing society. It provides for extensive fieldwork involving community planning initiatives and projects.
The course has two major disciplines: - Planning and Environment Studies - Society, People, Economic and Management Studies.
It includes extensive practical studies, such as: - Project management - Organisational behaviour and negotiation - Mediation - Community development. - 90 days of professional work experience in third and fourth years. | | | | MAJOR AREAS OF STUDY | | Planning and design for rural and urban communities, environmental theory and law, psychology of community life, sociology and politics. | | | | OVERSEAS STUDY OPPORTUNITIES | | Overseas study opportunities are available. | | | | TUITION FEE ($AUD) | | Fees are indexed and may increase by up to 7% per year | | 16,690 | | | | SCHOLARSHIPS | | Scholarships are available for high achieving students, please ask for further information. | | | | ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS | Successful completion of English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at undergraduate (EFS5 (60%) UG) level conducted by La Trobe University Language Centre; or
IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test: a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English; or
TOEFL Computer-based Test: a minimum score of 213 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test: a minimum score of 80 with no individual score less than 20; or
Satisfactory completion of an English language subject at Year 12 or equivalent level. This must have been completed in the last two years and at an academic level acceptable to the University; or

However, if a student has completed their course and their student visa is expiring they will need to apply for another visa with work rights rather than renewing their student visa based on undertaking industry experience. | | | | CAREER OPPORTUNITIES | | Graduates skilled in land use, planning and environmental management are in high demand.
