NB: This course does not guarantee entry into the Bachelor of Laws. However, students with a B average or higher at La Trobe and a high enough ENTER score (or international equivalent) may apply to transfer any time after first year. Selection and entry into the Bachelor of Laws is administered by the Faculty of Law and Management.
First year: Includes foundational subjects in: - Legal Practices - Law and Society - Crime and Criminology.
All units are designed to introduce students to law-related skills and concepts and their use in vocational contexts. In subsequent years, students construct a coherent program of study directed towards employment in areas such as research and policy development, criminology and criminal justice, legal administration and education, human rights, community work, social welfare and advocacy.
A Legal Studies Workplace Practice is offered at third year and provides an intensive overview of vocational practices and pathways for graduates in legal studies. IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test: a minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English; or
TOEFL Computer-based Test: a minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test: a minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or
