Aim

To develop graduates who are able to plan, manage and evaluate the development, acquisition, adoption and ongoing operation of Information and Communications Technology and systems in industry, business or public adminstration.

Entry requirements

Applicants would normally have completed a bachelor degree in any discipline or equivalent. Applicants who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Information or the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology with a Grade Point Average of 5 or higher will also be eligible for entry.

 

For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing subscores and minimum overall score of 6.0 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA; or
Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; or
Successful completion of two or more years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which:

  • English is an official language; or
  • English is commonly used, as determined by the University.

Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of two or more years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the Program Director.

 

Content/structure

The degree requires the completion of courses comprising of 54 units.

This program has been accredited by the Australian Computer Society.

Fee information

Fees for International students: $AU 20,000 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2010.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.

Rules

  1. The course Academic Skills for IT Professionals, offered in two study periods per year, must be taken in the first available study period of the program, and if failed, must be repeated in successive study periods until passed. A student who enters the program with the required skills (as determined by the Course Coordinator) will negotiate with the relevant Program Director the substitution of this core course with an elective.

 

Notes

  1. Electives may be chosen from other advanced topics of Information Technology related programs, subject to meeting appropriate prerequisites and the approval of the Program Director. 
  2. Enrolment in INFS 5051 Special Topic in Information Systems requires permission of the Course Coordinator.
  3. Elective courses are offered subject to student demand and staff availability. Postgraduate courses offered within the University of South Australia or from other universities may be substituted for the elective course(s) with permission of the Program Director.
