Program Code: DMIS Program Level: Postgraduate SATAC code: 4CM023 Home Campus: City West Program Length (in EFTSL): 1.5 AimThe program is designed to develop leadership skills and specialised expertise at an advanced level in business, financial and information systems disciplines. Entry requirementsAll applicants must contact the Program Director (Allan Baird) to arrange an interview. Applicants would normally have a bachelor degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Business, or equivalent qualifications; with at least a grade point average of 5.0 (credit average) ; and pass an interview to be eligible for this program. Applicants would normally have passed coursework with the following content: - Computer programming,
- Systems analysis,
- Systems design, and
- Data modelling and database design;
and four courses from the following list: - Accounting
- Economics
- Finance
- General management
- Human resource management
- Law
- Marketing
- Organisational behaviour
- Strategic management
For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are: International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing subscores and minimum overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA; or Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; or Successful completion of two or more years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which: - English is an official language; or
- English is commonly used, as determined by the University.
Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of two or more years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the Program Director. Content/structureThe program requires completion of courses totalling 54 units taken over 1 calendar year.
Professional recognitionThis program has been accredited by the Australian Computer Society. Fee informationFees for International students: $AU 19,250 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2010. Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units. Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation. Rules1. The degree must be taken in the internal delivery mode and on a full-time basis only. Notes- Students are expected to attend program seminars scheduled by staff and industry partners.
- Students are required to complete two courses while working with an industry partner.
- The electives will be courses approved by the Program Director, and for which the student has met the prerequisites, from postgraduate courses offered by the Division of Business or by the School of Computer and Information Science.
- The degree may commence in study period 2, 5 or 7 and continues for one calendar year.
- Managing Networks and Telecommunications M assumes a level of knowledge equivalent to Network Technology M (COMP 5049) or Network Fundamentals (INFT 1012). Students who need to study Network Technology M can select it as an elective.
- Not all courses may be offered in all study periods.
- The industry partners make a contribution toward the expenses incurred during the program.
- Students who have successfully completed Enterprise Resource Planning using SAP (INFT 3009) are required to choose a 4.5 unit Elective course instead Enterprise Systems using SAP M (INFS 5024).
- Students who have previously completed ICT Specialist Industry Project (INFT 4026) or equivalent are required to choose 9.0 units of Elective courses instead.
