Program Code: LGIF Program Level: Postgraduate SATAC code: 4GD009 Home Campus: Mawson Lakes Program Length (in EFTSL): 1 AimThis program provides an introductory postgraduate education to graduates of a non-computing discipline. Entry requirementsApplicants would normally have completed a bachelor degree in a non computing discipline or equivalent qualification. Applicants who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology with a Grade Point Average of 5 or higher will also be eligible for entry. International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing subscores and minimum overall score of 6.0 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA; or Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; or Successful completion of two or more years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which: - English is an official language; or
- English is commonly used, as determined by the University.
Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of two or more years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the Program Director. Content/structureThe program consists of core courses in computing technology, mathematics, programming, algorithms, object oriented and database system development. A total of 36 units of study must be completed. Professional recognitionThis program has been accredited by the Australian Computer Society. Fee informationFees for International students: $AU 19,500 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2010. Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units. Notes- Upon successful completion of four courses from the Graduate Diploma Schedule, students may elect to exit the program with a Graduate Certificate in Information Technology.
- Students may complete a selection of core courses from the above schedule, plus a maximum of two electives (9 units).
- Students may take Java Programming G (COMP 5024) or Java as a Second Language (COMP 3007).
- Elective courses are offered subject to student demand and staff availability. Postgraduate courses offered within the University of South Australia or from other universities may be substituted for the elective course(s) with permission of the Program Director.
