Aim

The aim of this program is to provide professional development education for graduates pursuing careers involving the management of public communication and media relations objectives and campaigns in organisations operating in a global context. The program is designed for professional practitioners as well as the managers of such professional practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants to the program are normally required to hold a completed university degree or equivalent professional qualification. In addition applicants will normally have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in commerce, industry or a public sector organisation.

Alternatively applicants who have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma in Communication (Public Relations) will be considered for entry without the two years of relevant experience.

English language entry requirements

For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 6.0 in Writing subscore and minimum overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA; or

Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; or

Successful completion of two or more years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which:

  • English is an official language; or
  • English is commonly used, as determined by the University.

Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of two or more years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the Program Director.

 

Content/structure

This program comprises 54 units of study. It is an intensive program made up of eight courses of 4.5 units (36 units) and a graduate case study combined with a research methods course (totalling 18 units). This program is available for transnational delivery, however not all of the alternative courses listed are available offshore.

Fee information

Fees for International students: $AU 17,500 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2010.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.
