Aim

This is a graduate program of study for experienced managers and professionals to develop managerial skills and knowledge.

Entry requirements

Entrants to the program shall normally hold:

  • A recognised University undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum of two years' full-time relevant work experience OR
  • A Graduate Certificate in Business Administration with an average of at least Pass Level 1 (55%) from the International Graduate School of Business at the University of South Australia or an equivalent qualification from other Schools within the University of South Australia or from another recognised University AND
  • A minimum of five years full time relevant work experience including significant experience in supervision and financial management and evidence of capacity to study at postgraduate level.

All applicants are required to submit two referee reports and a detailed curriculum vitae outlining managerial and executive experience.

English language entry requirements

For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are :

International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing sub scores and minimum overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA

OR

Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at bachelor level or above completed in Australia within the last two years;

OR

Successful completion of at least two years of tertiary study at bachelor level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which:

  • English is an official language; or
  • English is commonly used, as determined by the University.

Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of at least two years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the University.

The IGSB reserves the right to request completion of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) to a satisfactory level.

 

Content/structure

The Graduate Diploma in Business Administration is an intensive program of 36 units comprising 8 constituent courses and a structured Commencement Seminar. No electives are offered in off-shore deliveries, in which the program schedule is fixed according to delivery location and contractual relationships with partner organisations. 

Fee information

Fees for International students: $AU 23,600 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2010.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.

Rules

  1. The University of South Australia will determine which courses will be made available to Strategic Partnership students of this program. Not all courses may be available in any one calendar year.

  2. The following enrolment sequence is preferred:

    * These courses have prerequisites. Refer to the individual course statements for specific information.

  3. Electives are chosen in consultation with the Program Director and are subject to prerequisites, corequisites, timetabling, minimum class sizes and contractual arrangements with partner institutions. Not all courses may be available in any one calendar year.
    Where there is a choice of elective or specialty course, on-shore students of the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration can choose any approved postgraduate elective course - subject to the Program Director's approval. The Program Director may also approve elective courses from other postgraduate programs offered by this (or other) university(ies).

  4. Applications for credit, exemption and/or studies in lieu will be considered in accordance with the University of South Australia's, Policy No:A-13, Recognition of prior learning for credit, exemption and studies-in-lieu, Appendix A. Credit transfer framework: Recognition of formal studies at other tertiary institutions and/or of work or life experience. These applications will be considered by the Head of School or nominee.

    Credit may be granted for courses
        a.   That have a business and management focus;
        b.   That have been completed at postgraduate level within 10 years at the time of the application;
        c.   That have been completed at a Pass Level 2 grade or higher, as per the University of South Australia's grading system or its equivalent.

  5. Academic performance will be monitored by the IGSB Board of Examiners. Students are limited to 3 Supplementary Assessments within the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration.

 

Notes

  1. This program is a full fee paying program and is offered subject to market demand and other conditions.

  2. This program is delivered in the English language.

  3. All commencing students are required to attend a structured Commencement Seminar. No grade is awarded for this.

  4. The Graduate Diploma in Business Administration is designed as a nested program with credit transfers and articulation pathways from the Graduate Certificate in Management.
