Description: 
   This course has two streams: (1) for dentists wishing to become specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. This stream is a prerequisite for lateral entry into Level 4 of the Medicine course (i.e. the MB BS degree) at UWA (Note: A medical degree is a requirement for registration as a specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Australia); and (2) for dentists wishing to advance their knowledge and skills in oral and maxillofacial surgery without this leading to a specialist qualification.

   A Bachelor of Dental Science from this University or equivalent status

Structure: 
   Students undertake three core units and one elective unit in each semester. Each unit is one semester in duration. Those wishing to gain lateral entry into the MB BS course as part of the training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery undertake bridging units in preclinical and paraclinical medical sciences as well as units in oral surgery.
