The major in Māori Development offers opportunities to develop and apply knowledge and skills required in the Aotearoa/New Zealand workplace from a Māori perspective. Students gain a foundation in tikangā and te reo Māori and an education in best practice business models. The degree analyses and evaluates contemporary business concepts from a Māori world-view. Students will also develop a strong awareness of the cultural and social issues facing Aotearoa / New Zealand society.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Note: Entrance to university does not guarantee admission to a specific programme of study.
SPECIAL ADMISSION
Applicants over 20 years of age who do not hold a university entrance qualification (such as NCEA or CIE above) may qualify for university entrance via Special Admission.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for whom English or Maori is not their first language are required to provide proof of an acceptable pass/grade gained in an accepted English language test.
FURTHER STUDIES
On completion you will have the opportunity to pursue study towards higher level qualifications:
- Master of Arts in Māori Development or Youth Development
- Other Postgraduate courses at AUT University

You have the opportunity to achieve fluency in all areas of the language required for daily communication and the workplace. You will develop professional capabilities in communication, interpersonal skills, leadership, teamwork, decision-making, problem solving, critical and creative thinking, and research and inquiry. You will be able to work electronically in and away from the class. You will be able to think and discuss contemporary issues in business, present and advocate your ideas to colleagues, work in teams, investigate issues, make recommendations, plan, implement and make decisions.
