CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Psychologists are professionals who have completed academic studies in psychology, followed by postgraduate qualifications in a particular specialist area of professional practice in psychology; examples are clinical psychologist, counselling psychologist, organisational psychologist, forensic psychologist, child or educational psychologist.
Psychology is also a valuable component of many careers that need an understanding of human behaviour, but do not involve professionally trained psychologists. These include human resource management, employment relations, management, public relations, marketing, advertising, community development, public health promotion, career and employment counselling, and teaching and training. The AUT Bachelor of Arts degree provides an ideal opportunity to prepare for many of these careers by combining a major in psychology with other specific papers linked to these careers.
