Designed to produce creative managers with skills in business development, entrepreneurship, cultural management and creative practice, this programme equips students for careers in the creative industries and provides them with a range of transferable skills in management, presentation, and community development as well as enabling students to understand structure and organisation in the cultural and creative industries in a wider context. Programme Code: AK1300 Level: 9 Points: 120 Duration: Two years part time Venue: City Campus Starting date: 3 March 2008 Application deadline: 3 December 2007 AUT encourages early application. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Successful completion of the equivalent of a four year bachelors degree or a three year bachelors degree plus one year of advanced study. ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Applicants for whom English or Māori is not their first language are required to provide proof of an acceptable pass/grade gained in an accepted English language test. You will acquire an advanced understanding of the contemporary contexts and applications of management within the cultural and creative industries and develop an understanding of a range of methodologies appropriate to research in the cultural and creative industries. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The creative arts are a burgeoning industry in New Zealand with a wide range of vocational opportunities. Within this sector there is an increasing demand for arts managers, writers, curators, directors and project managers. There are very few providers of training and qualifications to meet this need. This qualification will provide graduates with the knowledge to play a role in the arts – entrepreneurship, curatorial expertise, events management, writing and publication, business practice and managerial skill.
