Information Technology is a fundamental asset of business, and professionals who understand this can add value to a business. The use and dissemination of IT is crucial for successful organisations. IT has also expanded into new areas. The digital convergence of computing, communications and media has introduced the e-business paradigm and new ways of communication by means of digitally enabled devices. The IT major equips students to utilise these new innovations and convergences to further both business objectives and their own creativity and thereby be leaders in the knowledge economy. Combining IT in a double major with any other field of business (for instance Accounting, Marketing, Management or eBusiness) will enhance these abilities and employment opportunities. If you prefer to follow a computing and software development pathway, AUT also offers a Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences, which is a more technically oriented degree.
