The Diploma in Applied Science is for students who wish to gain knowledge in a specialised scientific discipline. Two common pathways in the Diploma in Applied Science are Pre-Chiropractic Science and Anaesthetic Technology. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS - NCEA: 48 Level 2 credits including 8 Level 2 credits in a language rich subject
- CIE: Total 60 Points at UCAS, including a language rich subject
Language Rich Subjects: English, History, Geography, Classical Studies, History of Art or Media Studies, Economics, Te Reo, Physical Education, Drama, Social Studies. ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Applicants for whom English or Māori is not their first language are required to provide proof of an acceptable pass/grade gained in an accepted English language test. This pathway prepares students for entry to the New Zealand College of Chiropractic’s Bachelor of Chiropractic. Students wishing to enrol with the college are required to complete the AUTDiploma in Applied Science before joining the college. This programme provides trainee anaesthetic technicians with the theoretical and general practical skills to become registered anaesthetic technicians. ANAESTHETIC TECHNICIAN AND ANAESTHETIC NURSE REGISTRATION
All people working as trainee anaesthetic technicians or nurses must be registered as trainees and employed in an NZATS (New Zealand Anaesthetic Technicians’ Society) recognised training facility. People without registration can complete the theory portion only of the training for an anaesthetic technician or anaesthetic nurse. THE KEY SKILLS YOU WILL ACQUIRE
Graduates will have a sound knowledge of human anatomy and normal physiological functioning, biophysical principles, and theory specific to the role of the anaesthetic technician.
