Paramedics often perform their role in remote or difficult environments, isolated from other health professionals. The level of critical, often complex, decision-making required of paramedics is reflected in this degree. Clinical experience is gained in ambulance services, hospitals and community health settings. Practical work constitutes a third of the programme. Advanced/intensive care paramedics, emergency nurses and other specialists teach on the degree. Students benefit from inter-disciplinary learning with other undergraduate health science students. Applicants who hold ambulance, nursing or military medicine qualifications are eligible for recognition of prior learning and a part time study pathway.
