[*] Faculty of Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology courses are undertaken at Nathan and the Faculty of Education courses are undertaken at Mt Gravatt. Program structure In Years 1 and 2, you will undertake studies in your two teaching areas. In Years 3 and 4, your teaching areas studies will be extended by professional experience. This includes observation and participation in schools, practice teaching and community field studies. You will receive significant off-campus training in real schools to develop your practical teaching skills and ensure that you become competent and confident in classroom teaching. An Honours strand which may be undertaken in Years 3 and 4 is an option for those students who meet the necessary academic criteria. Exit point If you choose not to pursue teaching as a career, you will have the option to exit the program with a Bachelor of Arts award after successfully completing the equivalent of the first three years of the degree. Professional recognition As a graduate, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. This qualification is recognised nationally and internationally. Career opportunities Employment prospects are good in both the public and private school systems. You will be qualified for secondary teaching in your two chosen teaching areas throughout Australia and at equivalent levels overseas.
