Program Description

This program is designed to give professional secondary school level teacher training to graduate students, and is recognised as a teaching qualification in both government and non-government schools in New South Wales and in most other states in Australia. It is also widely accepted overseas as a teaching qualification. Prospective students should, however, check their eligibility for employment with the relevant authority in their country of residence.

Entry Requirements

The Diploma in Education is available to graduates of approved universities where their previous studies meet entry prerequisites for their selected teaching specialisation/s. These prerequisites are normally at least three years of study in their main teaching discipline.

Program Structure

The program requires students to study in each of two single teaching areas (method courses) or in one double teaching (method) course. The methods cover the curriculum and instructional material for the Australian High School Years 7 to 12. Students must meet entry prerequisites to undertake their preferred teaching method/s. Those studying double method courses must have completed two years of prior study in the second teaching discipline.
