Data is being generated faster than it can be analysed and utilised. Bioinformatics is an emerging discipline at the convergence of computing and life sciences aimed at development of technologies for storing, extracting, organising, analysing, interpreting and utilising this “tsunami” of information. Program StructureYEAR 1 Bioinformatics, Molecules, Cells and Genes, Computing, Data Structures & Algorithms Chemistry, Mathematics and one of Evolutionary & Functional Biology, Fundamentals of Chemistry and Higher Chemistry YEAR 2 Bioinformatics, Principles of Molecular Biology (Adv), Software Construction, Engineering Design, Intro to Biochemistry & Microbiology, Discrete Mathematics, Genetics, Statistics YEAR 3 Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology of Nucleic Acids, Algorithms & Programming Techniques, Database Systems, Software Project Management, plus three electives (2 year 3 in S1 and 1 Year 3 in S2).
