It provides a multi-disciplinary education in science studies essential to the study of nutrition, plus parallel studies in human nutrition without a clinical component.
First year studies include:
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Psychology
- Statistics
- Public health for nutrition studies.
Specialisations at later years in:
- Eating disorders
- Dietary management
- Advanced topics in nutrition and disease
- Nutrition and performance
- Management of dietary behaviour
- Anthropological and public health aspects of nutrition.
The Faculty offers a range of competitive industry experience options through our Industry Cadetship and Integrated Business Learning programs and these vary by course and campus of enrolment. | | | | MAJOR AREAS OF STUDY | | Biochemistry, physiology, eating behaviour and disorders, dietary and nutritional implications for disease, and the social and behavioural aspects of nutrition and nutritional defects. | | | | OVERSEAS STUDY OPPORTUNITIES | | Overseas study opportunities are available. | | | | TUITION FEE ($AUD) | | Fees are indexed and may increase by up to 7% per year | | 20,600 | | | | SCHOLARSHIPS | | Scholarships are available for high achieving students, please ask for further information. | | | | ADDITIONAL COSTS ($AUD) | | Depending on the units chosen, approximate costs may include: laboratory coat - A$30, dissecting kit - A$40. | | | | ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS | Successful completion of English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at undergraduate (EFS5 (60%) UG) level conducted by La Trobe University Language Centre; or
IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test: a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English; or
TOEFL Computer-based Test: a minimum score of 213 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test: a minimum score of 80 with no individual score less than 20; or
Satisfactory completion of an English language subject at Year 12 or equivalent level. This must have been completed in the last two years and at an academic level acceptable to the University; or

Opportunities exist for nutritionists in government bodies, community health centres, food companies, food manufacturing and processing, animal health companies and sports clubs. | | | | PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION | | The course provides prerequisites for entry into postgraduate courses, including those professionally accredited by the Dieticians Association of Australia.
