COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course enables registered nurses to develop knowledge and skills that will enhance their professional practice. Students take the course via one of two streams, which have different prerequisites and different outcomes.

Stream A is designed for comprehensive professional development, but does not lead to eligibility for registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria as a Registered Nurse (Division One). There are no compulsory nursing clinical practice components in Stream A.

Stream B provides the opportunity for candidates to meet the requirements for registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria as a Registered Nurse (Division One). The course aims to provide students with strong academic and practical skills, as well as the attitudes required to comprehend, critically analyse and evaluate new knowledge in nursing.
 
MAJOR AREAS OF STUDY
Nursing, primary health care, determinants of health and wellbeing, physiology and anatomy.

Fees are indexed and may increase by up to 7% per year
Stream A: 19 500
Stream B: 21 500
 
SCHOLARSHIPS

ADDITIONAL COSTS ($AUD)
Stream B: Approximate costs include uniform and equipment - A$250, police check - A$14, immunisations - A$250-470.

Accommodation costs for clinical placement will vary according to the venue and not all students will incur the same cost.
 
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Stream A :

IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0 or approved equivalent.

Stream B :
IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0 with no individual band score less than 7.0 or approved equivalent.
 
ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Must be a registered nurse in home country.
 
SEMESTER STARTS
Semester 1 and 2 (March and July)
 
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Stream A is designed for comprehensive professional development and preparation for postgraduate study.

Stream B allows candidates to practise nursing in Australia.
 
PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
The course is recognised internationally as a Bachelor's degree qualification in Nursing. Only graduates of Stream B only may apply for registration as a Division One nurse with the Nurses Board of Victoria.
