Why choose this program? This program was known as the Bachelor of Film and Screen Media prior to 2007. It provides a unique hands-on study of professional motion picture and video production. You will develop knowledge and skills in production, direction, camera, sound, lighting, editing, digital composing, scriptwriting and research and also the ability to apply these within cultural and industry frameworks. The program combines studies in various aspects of film, television and digital media production with a thorough grounding in the history, practice and critical analysis of filmmaking. You will explore the creative application of the various production processes and new forms of digital media including video for the world wide web and desktop. Using 16mm film and video, you will learn how to work with a team to bring your own vision to life on screen. Supported by informative art history and practice programs, this practical experience will help you to develop advanced skills so you will be ready to make an informed and creative contribution to the film, television and interactive media industries. In Year 1, you will be introduced to film and screen media production courses. In Years 2 and 3, you will focus on video cinematography, video editing, sound recording, digital media and other areas of film, television and digital technologies. You will also work with the animation students to complete a community project. Attendance This program is offered full-time: on-campus only.
