To meet the diverse needs of International students, and in response to the changing environment and developing faculty, SITE offers international programs of study leading to Master’s degrees in IGPAE (International Graduate Programs in Applied Economics), IGPIB (International Graduate Program in International Business), and a new program, IGPID (International Graduate Program in International Development). International graduate students hail from overseas, attending courses taught entirely in English. In addition SITE also offers a PhD in Economics, International Trade, and Finance. The objective of the Master's program is to prepare students for positions in non-governmental and business sectors by providing them with an up-to-date theoretical background, analytical techniques and flexible, practical skills in a variety of fields. IGPID students, in particular, will learn a multidisciplinary branch of social science which addresses issued of concern to China development.

 

Fees

Fees are approx £7000 per year.  Living costs in China are Approx £3000 per year.

 Course Description

Each student in this program must complete 37 graduate credits of course work: 12 credits in three core courses, 5 credits of two field courses and 20 credits of elective courses, or a combination of a research essay and 14 credits of approved courses. The core courses include AE501 Microeconomic Theory, AE502 Macroeconomic Analysis, and AE503 Econometrics.

There are three fields for students to select from: International Trade, Corporate Finance, and Industrial Organization. There is no thesis requirement for the program. However, students can choose to complete a thesis, which is equivalent to 6 credits of elective courses. A thesis advisor will be appointed for each student who intends to write a thesis. The thesis should be related to the student's major area of study and focused on the Chinese aspects of the field. Students who complete all required course work with grades above 60 on a 100 scale will receive a Master’s degree in Applied Economics. Students who finish only part of required course work may be issued a course certificate.
