Career Outcomes Public health professionals are an essential part of any health-related organisation. Their primary aim is to promote the general health and wellness of a community or population through their work in the health care sector. Public health practitioners work as community health officers, policy officers, program evaluators, public health promoters and educators, project officers and consultants. This course gives graduates an understanding of public health, primary health care, community health and health promotion. Students can elect to take minor studies in the areas of Alcohol and Drug Studies, Community Nutrition, general studies in Psychology, Health Education, Indigenous Health, and Women's Health.
Public health practitioners work in both public and private sectors including state and federal health departments, population health units, community health centres, divisions of general practice, non-governmental health organisations, and international health agencies. Professional Membership Graduates are eligible for membership of the Public Health Association of Australia and the Australian Health Promotion Association. Course Structure
