Swan TAFE’s Associate Degree in Business will prepare students to effectively contribute to the business industry. Our qualifications are highly competitive and are sought after by both international and domestic students.

Swan TAFE’s Associate Degree in Business is designed to equip graduating students with:

  • an understanding and interpretation of key business concepts and theories and how they evolve within the relevant technical, social and cultural contexts;
  • a business research-based knowledge;
  • a broad-based, multi-disciplinary conceptual and theoretical understanding within the business discipline;
  • an ability to access, interpret, comprehend and evaluate research and information;
  • employment skills that will provide a broad-based entry point into a range of professional business occupations and/or the articulation into relevant Bachelor Degree programs; and
  • an increased knowledge base of the community and the facilitation of life-long learning.
By studying an Associate Degree course at Swan TAFE you will be able to enrol in the 3rd year of a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at Murdoch University.
Students electing to enter the workforce, after successfully completing the Associate Degree qualification, will find that they have the skills and knowledge required to make them highly employable in the current market.

Entry Requirements

The following criteria must be met by students wishing to enter the Associate Degree program:
Academic qualifications
  • Successful completion of Australian year 12 or equivalent international qualification; or
  • Completion of the Full International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 24 points from six subjects at one sitting, three of the subjects must be at the higher level and one of the six subjects should be English; or
  • Certificate IV in a relevant area; or
  • Completion of a relevant qualification in another country that is deemed by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR) as being at least comparable to an AQF Certificate IV.
AND (for international students only)
Entrance is also subject to english language admission requirements such as:
  • IELTS overall score of 6 (Academic Version) with no individual band lower than 5; or
  • TOEFL score of 530 or above; or
  • Medium of instruction at school being English, and satisfactory grades in English in final examinations (such as “C” grade at 0 level); or
  • TAFE Western Australia English Proficiency Test (administered free of charge).
For students who do not meet either of these criteria, admission into ELICOS courses or foundation courses is possible if they are judged as being able to meet the English language criteria within the time nominated by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. Visas for this purpose can be obtained for scores down to 4.5 depending on the country of origin.
