This programme aims to provide an enhancement of specialist technical knowledge in strategically selected areas, such as wireless communications, applied electromagnetics, teletraffics, data communications and digital entertainments that are relevant to the current and anticipated future demands from the industry. Due to the rapid advances of existing technologies, the programme is designed for practicing engineers who want to upgrade and update their knowledge in this field. Entry To be eligible for admission, you must satisfy the Gerneral Entrance Requirements and have: - a degree of one of the universities in Hong Kong or an overseas institution recognized for this purpose by the University;
or - an equivalent qualification, or provided evidence of academic and professional attainment acceptable for this purpose by the University.
Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement: - TOEFL score 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 79 (interet-based test); or
- Overall band 6.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or
- Score 450 in the new College English Test (CET6) of China mainland or a pass in the old CET-6 test; or
- Other equivalent qualifications.
Course MSEIE with Business Management Students must complete a total of 36 credit units (CUs) of which at least 12 CUs must be Business Management (BM) elective courses. A minimum of 21 CUs must be EE elective courses where at least 6 CUs must be information engineering related courses. In addition, no more than 9 CUs can be obtained from Level 5 technical elective courses. MSEIE Students must complete a total of 30 CUs for the award. A minimum of 21 CUs must be EE elective courses and at least 6 CUs must be information engineering related courses. In addition, no more than 9 CUs can be obtained from Level 5 technical elective courses. PGD Students who have earned 24 CUs (at least 15 CUs of EE taught courses; no less than 6 CUs of information engineering related courses; and no more than 9 CUs of level 5 technical elective courses), but do not intend to complete the full programme may apply in writing for conferment of the PGD award.
