We aim to equip you with a strong background in mathematical modelling, scientific computing and technical computer software. You will make contributions to commercial, financial and industrial sectors in Hong Kong and greater China. The programme focuses on applied areas of mathematics linked to computing. Careers As a graduate of our programme, you will find yourself in hot demand in a number of fields, including quantitative business planning, mathematical modelling, scientific programming, engineering analysis, communications and e-commerce. There is also a large demand for Mathematics teachers at secondary schools in Hong Kong. In recent years, about 20% of our graduates found jobs in intelligent business units of major banks in Hong Kong. Entry To be eligible for admission, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements and one of the following programme specific entrance requirements: - E in AL Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics
or - C in AS Applied Mathematics or Mathematics and Statistics
or - A higher diploma or an associate degree in a mathematics discipline, or an equivalent qualification.
Course The programme includes general studies, communication skills and core subjects in Computing and Programming Techniques, Mathematical Methods and Analysis, Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Differential Equations, Numerical Methods, Probability and Statistics. Electives include Optimization, Computational Geometry, Industrial Mathematics, Dynamical Systems and Chaos, Finite Element Method, Applied Statistics, Partial Differential Equation, Applied Functional Analysis, and Mathematical Finance, etc. Bonus Features
