You will learn to use new technologies including new materials and studio design practices, with an emphasis on design skills, workshop methods, computer applications, business practices and marketi n g . You will also deve lop awareness of the various technical and creative aspects of working as an assistant fashion designer, usually with an existing business. The course is project based where you apply creative, critical and visual judgement in the resolution of a range of innovative solutions using a wide range of materials and styles. You will also have the opportunity to use individual expression of contemporary fashion design concepts as solutions to client related projects. Fashion design is a growth industry with many companies realising the benefits of value adding by the use of well designed products. Please note that there are additional costs in this course for equipment and resources which are not covered by the course tuition fee. Students will be advised of these costs when they are selected for the course. Career Opportunities Assistant fashion designer Articulation When you finish this course you may continue your studies in a range of other related creative areas in TAFE or later at university, such as fashion or textile design.
