The Diploma is competency based and has been structured to build on previous learning experience. It is therefore necessary to complete the program in the specified sequence. It provides vocational training in the theoretical and practical aspects of Interior Design for students who wish to enter the industry as a technician. It develops practical skills in planning and undertaking refurbishments based on an interior designer’s concept. The program covers design sketches, construction methodology, manual and computer-generated technical drawings, presentation of design concepts to clients and selection of materials, colour schemes, fabrics, furniture, fixtures and finishes.
 

Entry Requirements

English Proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or TOEFL 530 or ISLPR 2+   
and
School Leavers must have completed Year 12 or equivalent with a Sound Achievement in English and Mathematics A  
or
Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies

Program Articulation

Students graduating with the Diploma of Interior Technology who are accepted into University to study the Degree programs in Interior Design may gain some credit based on the presentation of a folio of their work.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.

Applications Close

There is only one intake per year, February. Applications can be made any time prior to the commencement of the program.

Cost

The cost of this program is $18 315. This cost does not include any materials (Please note textbooks or equipment must be purchased in addition). Materials cost approximately $385.
