This program is designed to prepare students to work at a professional level in the human services industry, in such areas as community organisations, traditional community church organisations, self-help organisations and statutory services. Delivery is onsite classroom with industry fieldwork. Field work/experience is an integral part of the training. Workers in this role are usually also involved in service delivery, either direct client work and/or health promotion and community development projects. Workers at this level operate at an advanced skill level and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other staff and volunteers. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services. Applicants for the Diploma of Community Welfare Work are advised that in the first year they will complete the Certificate IV in Community Services Work. This will provide sufficient knowledge and experience to complete the requirements for the Diploma in the second year of the program. In addition students will receive an additional Statement of Attainment in Working in a Cross-cultural Context with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People & Organisations. Applicants with considerable experience (over 5 years) and evidence of further training are encouraged to consider applying for direct entry into the Diploma year through RPL of Certificate IV Level Training. Entry Requirements Completion of the Certificate IV in Community Services Work and English Proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or TOEFL 530 or ISLPR 2+ Completion of Year 12 or equivalent or Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies Diploma of Community Welfare Work IELTS 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or TOEFL 530 or ISLPR 2+ Completion of Year 12 or equivalent and Successful completion of Certificate IV in Community Services Work Career Opportunities On successful completion of this program you will be qualified to apply for a position as a Welfare Worker, Case Coordinator, Case Manager, Client Service Assessor, Co-ordinator Family Services, Early Intervention Co-ordinator, Program Manager, Community Worker. Program Duration Full Time 76 weeks approximately 19 months

Recognition of Prior Learning Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applications CloseThere is only one intake per year, February. Applications can be made any time prior to the commencement of the program. CostThe cost of this program is $15 000. This cost includes all materials (please note textbooks or equipment must be purchased in addition). A complete uniform (approximately $165) and a full set of tools and equipment (approximately $260) is required by each individual. This cost comprises $7500 for Certificate IV in Community Services Work and $7500 for Diploma of Community Welfare Work
