Course Description

The Advanced Diploma of Music Performance (Jazz & Contemporary) is a contemporary two-year music course incorporating the Certificate IV in Music Performance (Jazz & Contemporary).
The course has a focus on music performance, in addition to this we provide students with a broad base of skills in the areas of Music business, Musicianship and Music Technology.
Students in these courses are provided with tuition on a principal instrument for the duration of the course.
The Advanced Diploma of Music Performance (Jazz & Contemporary) is made up of units from the National Music Industry Training Package.

The subject areas in the course are:

• Music Performance Skills (ensemble and individual)
• Music Literacy (aural, theory, composition and arranging)
• Business skills and promotion
• Technology (midi recording)

These subjects areas are taught by professionals with an emphasis on current technology and teaching methods.

Career Opportunities

Arrangements exist between NMIT and RMIT University for graduates of this course to apply for up to 1.5 years credit in the Bachelor of Arts (Music Industry). Seek employment in the music industry.

Entrance Requirements

Australian Year 12 (or recognised equivalent) or relevant work experience. IELTS 5.5 or higher (or recognised equivalents). Mature Age.

Students may be eligible for exemptions/transfers on the basis of previous qualifications.

Assessment Methods

Student assessments are based on the practical application of tasks.
